Universal Scoreboards for Multi-Sport Venues

One Australian made scoreboard for basketball, netball, futsal and volleyball, switched at the controller. From $5,000. Call 1300 023 422.

Shared venues have a scoreboard problem. Basketball on Tuesday, netball on Wednesday, futsal on Friday, and a board built for one of them. ESA universal scoreboards fix that. One board, one wireless controller, and the display changes to suit whichever sport is on court. They’re built at our facility in Victoria, by the team that supplies numerous NBL/NBL1 facilities and Basketball SA.

What a universal scoreboard covers

The universal range is built around the sports that share indoor and hard courts. Basketball, with team fouls, time-outs, periods and the option of shot clocks. Netball, with periods. Futsal and indoor soccer. Volleyball. Pick the sport at the controller and the board shows what that sport’s scorers and referees expect. The scorer’s job stays the same whatever night it is.

Three models cover most venues. The Pro-5 and SB-9004-XR are 2 x 1.2m and 1.5 x 1m respectively, with 200mm game time digits, 190mm score digits and 170mm digits for time-outs and team fouls. The SB-9001-XR is the compact option at 1.2 x 0.7m, with 190mm digits for game time and scores. All three have black powder-coated steel frames, frosted acrylic fronts that stop stadium lights reflecting, and ultra-bright, wide-angle LED digits.

Running competitions? Pair the universal board with shot clocks and a score bench for a full basketball competition setup. Running a netball or futsal tournament across several courts? Universal boards have a carnival timing option, so every court runs off the same clock.

Why multi-sport venues buy universal

  • One purchase instead of several. A single board replaces sport-specific units on shared courts
  • Volunteer-friendly. Sport selection and scoring on our clearly labelled wireless controller
  • Timing, periods and foul displays follow each sport’s conventions
  • Team names available in every sport configuration
  • Built in Victoria, with spare parts on a shelf here rather than on a ship
  • A sponsorship panel can be built in to help fund the purchase

From single court to whole stadium

A one-court school gym needs one wall-mounted universal board and a controller. A multi-court stadium needs a board per court, matching controllers so scorers can move between courts, and often a score bench at the show court. ESA supplies both ends and everything between, and the same people build, install and service the lot. One supplier answers for the whole venue's scoring. Prices start from $5,000 for small boards, with larger models up to $50,000+ depending on digit size and shot clock integration. Every quote is itemised with installation included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which sports can the universal scoreboard display?

Basketball, netball, futsal and indoor soccer, and volleyball, with the scores, periods, timing and fouls each sport uses. If your venue runs a sport outside that list, ask us. Our LED video screens run scoring layouts for other sports through software templates.

Select the sport at the controller. The board’s layout and timing rules change with it. No rewiring, no ladder, no menu deep-dive between sessions, which matters when Tuesday basketball rolls into Wednesday netball with different volunteers each night.

Yes. Every universal model is available with shot clocks, and they can be added when your competition needs them. Cabling for them at the original install is cleaner, so if your association is heading toward shot clock rules, tell us when you quote.

For court sports, no. The display shows what each sport’s scorers and spectators expect, because that’s what it was designed to do. The decision that matters is universal fixed digits versus a full LED video screen, which adds video and sponsor content at a higher price. We’ll talk you through which suits your venue.

Many of our school and club customers fund scoreboards through sport and community infrastructure grants, and sponsorship panels on the board can cover a good share too. Ask us about current funding options when you enquire.

One board for every sport your venue hosts.
