Digital Scoreboards and LED Video Screens

Live scores, replays and sponsor content on one LED screen, driven by scoring software ESA developed in Australia. Call 1300 023 422.

A digital scoreboard, or LED video board, does everything a traditional LED digit board does, then keeps going. Live scores and game time. Team names. Video, animations and sponsor messages between quarters. Replays at venues that want them. ESA supplies LED video screens for clubs, schools and stadiums, run by SVI, the scoring software we developed in-house, and the same CC-XR console that drives our scoreboards at numerous NBL/NBL1 facilities.

Traditional LED Digit Board or LED Video Screen?

A traditional LED digit board shows the essentials. Score, game time, period and team fouls in dedicated LED digits, plus team names and team logos, and for most school gyms that is the right buy at a fraction of the price. An LED video screen shows anything. A scoreboard layout for whichever sport is on, then video, presentations, sponsor loops or community messages.

The rule we give committees is simple to apply. If the board will only ever show one sport’s scores, buy a traditional LED digit board. If your venue hosts several sports, runs events, or wants sponsor revenue from moving content, the video screen earns its higher price.

Layouts are software, not hardware. One screen can be an AFL scoreboard on Saturday, a cricket scoreboard on Sunday and a school presentation screen on Monday.

The Software Behind Every ESA Digital Scoreboard

SVI is ESA’s own scoring software. It runs on the CC-XR console, sends the scoreboard layout to any screen with an HDMI input, and covers multiple sports and scoring configurations from the one program. Because we write it ourselves, layouts can be updated when a sport changes its rules or format, without waiting on an overseas vendor. A web portal also lets schools and clubs update their own team names, logos, player images and advertising. The same screen plays live video, replays and sponsor advertising between periods.

For venues that want words on a board, ESA also makes digital text message boards. They’re made to order in the size you need and run off the CC-XR with your choice of fonts, colours and layouts.

The screen that funds itself

Video screens change the sponsorship conversation. One name painted on a board becomes rotating sponsor slots, quarter-time features and event-day packages. That is recurring revenue fixed signage can't offer. Many clubs fund the screen through a mix of sponsor pre-sales and sport infrastructure grants. ESA quotes are itemised with installation included, which is what a grant application needs. Software rental is also available for events and carnivals, subject to screen type, application and dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an LED video scoreboard cost?

LED video scoreboards and large outdoor boards run from about $15,000 to $50,000 and beyond, against around $5,000 for a small traditional LED digit board. Screen size, pixel pitch and installation requirements set the price, so a courtside screen and a stadium screen are very different quotes. Tell us your venue and viewing distance and we’ll recommend the right size and spec. What we quote is what you pay.

Pixel pitch is the distance between LEDs. A smaller pitch gives a sharper image up close. A larger pitch costs less and looks just as sharp from further away. Spectators 40 metres away don’t need the pitch a courtside crowd does, so we recommend a pitch for your real viewing distance and not the sharpest one on the price list.

Yes. SVI covers multiple sports and scoring configurations, so the same screen displays netball, basketball, AFL, cricket, soccer and more, each with sport-correct scoring, timing and player statistics. That flexibility is the main reason multi-sport venues choose video over traditional LED digits.

Scoring runs from the CC-XR console and SVI software. Video, images and sponsor loops load through the media player. It’s built for club volunteers, and we set up your templates and train your operators at handover.

Yes. ESA arranges installation and commissioning Australia-wide, and service and spares come from Victoria for the life of the screen. Installation is included in your quote so there are no surprises between order and game day.
