AFL Scoreboards Built for Australian Ovals
Australian made football scoreboards with goals, behinds, points and game time, siren included. Call 1300 023 422.
An AFL scoreboard has to settle arguments from 150 metres away. Goal or behind, how long is left, and who is in front now the wind has swung. ESA AFL scoreboards are built at our facility in Victoria to answer all three from the far pocket, in digits sized for the oval, with a siren on every model.
- Goals, behinds, points and game time in ultra-bright, wide-angle LED digits
- Siren included on every model, real time clock, and game time that counts up or down to suit your league
- Weatherproof, maintenance free enclosure with an impact resistant, UV stabilised polycarbonate front
- Digital team names, logos and a variable message sign for sponsors on the larger models
- Switches to runs, wickets and overs for cricket in summer
Three AFL Scoreboards, One Question
How far away is your furthest spectator? That sets the digit size, and the digit size picks the model.
AFL300-TM
The full-size oval board, from 3000H x 2000W mm. Goals, behinds, points, runs, wickets and overs in 320mm digits, team names on a 300mm dot matrix display, a 300mm variable message sign, a real time clock and a siren.
AFL240-T
From 1000H x 3000W mm, with 200mm digits for game time, goals, behinds and points, digital team names and a siren. For community ovals where the crowd sits on one side and the club wants both team names up.
AFL240
A 1000H x 2000W mm footprint with 200mm digits for game time, goals, behinds and points, without the digital team names. The entry point to an aussie rules scoreboard for school ovals and second grounds.
Built for a Footy Season
Winter footy means rain in Melbourne, frost in Ballarat and a 35-degree round one in Perth. The same board has to handle all of it, so every ESA AFL scoreboard has a weatherproof, maintenance free enclosure designed for permanent outdoor use, an impact resistant, UV stabilised polycarbonate front screen that does not yellow, and a frosted screen that eliminates reflections from ground lights for night games. Ultra-bright, wide-angle LEDs read from the boundary at 2pm and under lights at 8pm. Every board is manufactured at ESA’s own facility in Victoria, so spare parts sit on a shelf here (rather than on a ship!) and the people who built it answer the phone on a Thursday night.
Scoring From the Clubrooms
A football scoreboard is run from a wireless controller, usually from the clubrooms or the timekeeper’s box, with goals, behinds, quarter changes and the siren on clearly labelled buttons. Your regular timekeepers get a walkthrough at handover, for the person who gets handed the controller ten minutes before the bounce.
Sponsors on the Scoreboard
The 300mm variable message sign on the AFL300-TM is the most watched advertising space at the ground. Rotate sponsor names between quarters, put the major sponsor up at the bounce, and run the club’s own messages in between. Sponsorship panels can be built into any model during production, and the major sponsor’s name sits there for decades. Many clubs cover a large share of the board this way, and the Telstra Footy Grants program funds community football clubs for up to $20,000 per project, with scoreboard upgrades on the eligible list.
AFL Scoreboard Pricing and Grant Funding
Compact outdoor-rated boards typically run from $8,000 to $15,000, and full-size oval boards like the AFL300-TM run from $15,000 to $50,000+ depending on digit size, team names and message sign options. Every quote is itemised with installation included, the price you're quoted is the price you pay, and that is the document a grant funding application asks for.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an AFL scoreboard cost?
ESA outdoor AFL scoreboards typically range from $8,000 to $15,000 for compact outdoor-rated boards and $15,000 to $50,000+ for full-size oval boards with team names and a message sign. Your quote is itemised and includes installation, so it can go straight into a grant application.
Can the same scoreboard run cricket in summer?
Yes, on the AFL300-TM. It displays goals, behinds, points and game time for football and runs, wickets and overs for cricket, from the same controller, and our guide to reading a cricket scoreboard explains the summer numbers for the footy crowd. The AFL240 and AFL240-T are football boards, so if a cricket club shares your oval, quote the 300 series.
What digit size do we need for our oval?
It depends on your furthest spectator. The AFL240 models use 200mm digits and suit community ovals with the crowd on one side. The AFL300-TM uses 320mm digits for main ovals with spectators along both wings.
Does the scoreboard include a siren?
Yes. Every ESA AFL scoreboard includes a siren, sounded from the wireless controller for the start and end of each quarter. Game time can count up or down to suit your league, and the AFL300-TM also carries a real time clock.
Can we put sponsors on the board?
Yes. The AFL300-TM has a 300mm variable message sign for rotating sponsor names and club messages, and sponsorship panels can be built into any model during production.
How long does delivery and installation take?
Boards are manufactured at our Victorian facility, so lead times depend on the current production schedule and your specification. Our typical lead time from confirmation of order is 4-8 weeks, depending on scope and options. Installation is arranged with delivery and includes controller training.
Goals, behinds, points, siren.
